Sweet Job Tips: Coping with Stress During Your Job Search

According to the Midwest Center which helps people that are dealing with stress and anxiety in the day to day lives, you can easily diminish some of your stress by following their suggest method, “ABC”.

You will find this idea of theirs can also be applied to help you during your job search.

Follow this “ABC” method today, and see how it will help ease some of the stress in your life and job search for the day. Then remember to use this system everyday going forward.

1. Attitude: A positive attitude can help you convert bad stress to good stress. For example, instead of being stressed out about a particular task or situation, instead feel excited about the potential for new experiences. And try to surround yourself with similar positive thinkers!

2. Breathe: Calm down, by slowing down, starting with your breathing.

3. Choice: Choose to control what you can – and that’s rarely the words and actions of others. Make choices to do thing to the best of your ability and with an open heart, at home or on the job.

Remember for those of you that believe in a higher authority, prayer is one of the key stress relievers.

The job search is like life, there are areas that you can have some control and impact, while a great majority of the job search is out of your control.

Focus daily on the area of your job search that you can have impact, such as research 5 more companies, 5 more follow up calls, mailing 5 resumes, and networking with 5 new people you have not contacted before.

The key is to say in the game.

Have a great week!

Sweet Job Tips: The Chinese Bamboo Tree - The Secret to Your Job Search

The Chinese Bamboo Tree - The Story of Patience Need in Your Job Search

Watch below this 4 minute video talking about the Chinese Bamboo Tree. The story should remind you of your job search at times where you keep making all this effort but do not see any results of a long time.

Stay in there, do not give up.

Each day make sure you are taking some type of action in your job search. The tenacity and patience will pay off.

If you do not take consistent action, do will soon slide from being in the game. Stay in the game and get back on your horse!

The market is slowly turning.

Job Search Expert Action Plan:

1. Remember to refresh your profiles at all the main job posting web sites.

2. Plan to contact again and follow up with people you have not heard back from in the past 60 days. A lot of things can change in that time period.

3. Find one new networking group this week you have not tried or visited in a long time.

4. Volunteer 1 hour somewhere with your church, kids school, political campaign, American Cancer Society - Relay for Life, or Save a Pet Center.

Have a great week.

I believe in you.

Blessings,

Sweet Job Tips: A New Way to Approach Life That Should Help

I came across this today in Three Minutes a Day by The Christophers. I thought it was a great simple straight forward way to approach everything in your life, including your job search.

Another Ten Commandments

I. Thou shall not worry. It's unproductive.

II. Thou shall not be fearful. Most things we fear never happen.

III. Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to them.

IV. Thou shall only handle one problem at a time.

V. Thou shall not borrow other people's problems.

VI. Thou shall bother other people' with my problems.

VII. Thou shall not try to relive yesterday. Focus on what is happening and be happy now!

VIII.Thou shall be a good listener because some people do now more than you do.

IX. Thou shall not become bogged down by frustration, for 90 percent is rooted in self-pity.

X. Thou shall count thy blessings including the small ones.

Try reading this once a day for the next 7 days and see if this help make your path a little lighter.

Blessings,

Eleanor

Sweet Job Tips: Great News on Job Front, Home Front...

GREAT NEWS: I wanted to share the great news with everyone! My husband started a new job that he loves after being unemployed for 18 months!. Also another lady, Linda I was helping got a job offer the same week as my husband!

This week it was announced we had the lowest jobless rate in 4 years. YEAH!

In the last 6 months we have seen the best job placement improvement.

Hang in there, those that are looking or thinking of looking (85% of employed people are unhappy)

The job market is slowwwwwwwwwwly opening up. You will see it continue to improve right into summer. Take care, Eleanor

We should see a spike Septemeber/October right before the election. Regardless of who gets re-elected, their is an emotional sense of security of knowing who is "running" the country for the next four years, that motivates businesses to make needed personal and capital commitments that they have been putting off.

Have a great week-end.
