Sweet Job Tips: Target Companies: Uncover Hidden or Lost Contacts

Job Tip: Target Companies : Hidden and Lost Contacts

This week's Job Search Tips:

Job Search Success Strategies

Chapter 7 - Target Companies (pages 117-118)

4 Tools for Uncovering Contact Names

1. You will most likely uncover some contact names through the resources I have mentioned earlier in this chapter.

2. Don't forget to go to each company's website. It always amazes me how much information is available on corporate websites with respect to their executives.

3. Use Social Media to research executives at your target companies. If you do not know the person, then see if one of your connections knows someone within the company.

I still have a strong professional bias toward LinkedIn over Facebook and Twitter. I do not, however, think Facebook and Twitter should be ignored if you are a "free agent." You never know where your next interview will come from.

4. Use the Google or Alexa search tools.

a. At Google.com, go into the Advanced Search

b. In the top box, enter the company name.

c. In the third box, type the title two levels above your title (your boss's boss's title).

d. Go back to Google's Advanced Search and put the first and last names of the person you've uncovered on the first line.

e. Put the company's name on the third line.

f. Run the search.

g. This strategy will give you some background information on your target contact.

These are some starter ideas on how to approach your target companies and organizations. If you are currently frustrated with the results so far in your job search, then now may be the time to start with a fresh slate.

You may have been doing all of this when you first started your search, but perhaps you have fallen off the wagon and gotten less disciplined over time. I know that one of the secret keys to a successful job search is a combination of a strong sense of discipline and persistence.

Take a second look at your search. Re-evaluate your target companies. Maybe there are some ways you could and should expand your list by widening your net.

Have a great week and week-end.

Take care,

Eleanor

Sweet Job Tips: A New Way to Approach Life That Should Help

I came across this today in Three Minutes a Day by The Christophers. I thought it was a great simple straight forward way to approach everything in your life, including your job search.

Another Ten Commandments

I. Thou shall not worry. It's unproductive.

II. Thou shall not be fearful. Most things we fear never happen.

III. Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to them.

IV. Thou shall only handle one problem at a time.

V. Thou shall not borrow other people's problems.

VI. Thou shall bother other people' with my problems.

VII. Thou shall not try to relive yesterday. Focus on what is happening and be happy now!

VIII.Thou shall be a good listener because some people do now more than you do.

IX. Thou shall not become bogged down by frustration, for 90 percent is rooted in self-pity.

X. Thou shall count thy blessings including the small ones.

Try reading this once a day for the next 7 days and see if this help make your path a little lighter.

Blessings,

Eleanor

Sweet Job Tips: Great News on Job Front, Home Front...

GREAT NEWS: I wanted to share the great news with everyone! My husband started a new job that he loves after being unemployed for 18 months!. Also another lady, Linda I was helping got a job offer the same week as my husband!

This week it was announced we had the lowest jobless rate in 4 years. YEAH!

In the last 6 months we have seen the best job placement improvement.

Hang in there, those that are looking or thinking of looking (85% of employed people are unhappy)

The job market is slowwwwwwwwwwly opening up. You will see it continue to improve right into summer. Take care, Eleanor

We should see a spike Septemeber/October right before the election. Regardless of who gets re-elected, their is an emotional sense of security of knowing who is "running" the country for the next four years, that motivates businesses to make needed personal and capital commitments that they have been putting off.

Have a great week-end.

PS

I will be sending a survey out where I am looking for your feedback asking for what areas of your job search are challenging you the most?

I want to be able that we are helping you as much as possible.  Also in the next 30 days I am being interviewed on two radio shows and one magazine. You will be helping me make sure I share the best information with everyone that they need.
