Sweet Job Tips: Newt Gingrich at my daughter's school, Barrington High School

What ever your political persuasion, you have to admit that New Gingrich is one of this country's strongest public speakers (and debaters).

This Thursday morning , March 15, 2011 and had the pleasure of listening live to one of the best public speakers this country currently has that has spent the majority of his life as a public servant and not as much on the corporate side.

It is refreshing to hear someone speak with such confidence, strength, intellect and truly get their message communicated in a very all encompassing manner but at the same time get to the point.

He share with us his 5 Principals of Life that he and his daughter shared in a book that they wrote together.

1. Without a vision, a person does not have a purpose.

We all need to Dream Big! We all need to remember that. We need to teach our children from the        7-12th grade this important life lesson.

2. Work Hard.

Do an amazing amount of work. We all need to be willing to work hard.

3. Be willing to learn every day!

4. Enjoy yourself.

Change your career if you do not enjoy what you are doing. You want to have deep inner satisfaction in with you do.

5. Be true to yourself.

You have to do what you believe in.

Always be happy and proud of who you are.

"We need to liberate the people of American to feel that can chase their dreams!"

Some great simple advise from I suspect a very complex person.

The sign of a truly intelligent person is their ability to communicate in simple straightforward terms that anyone can understand.

I found Newt Gingrich to be exactly that kind of man this Thursday, March 15, 2012.

He is certainly true to himself, his heart and passion for America.

I encourage all of you to keep reaching out for what you believe in and your passion.

Blessings to everyone who believes in America being a great and wonderful country.

God Bless America,

Eleanor

Sweet Job Tips : Listen to the Whisper in Your Job Search - Take Action!

Listen to the Whisper

I want to share with you something from Oprah Winfrey that she presented at a California women’s conference where she taught a profound lesson about spiritual guidance. She calls up the whisper…

“God always first speaks to you in the whisper. So right now… the universe is whispering to you about your job… is whispering about your children… is whispering to you about your relationship. If I were you, I take it in the whisper. Because after the whisper, you get a little thump on your head… A thump on the head is a message, trying to get through to you. If you don't pay attention to that, you end up in a big old problem. That's a brick falling upside your head because you didn't hear it in the whisper. And if you don't pay attention to the brick then you get a whole wall of bricks falling down. Now you don't have a problem, you've got a crisis. And if you don't pay attention to the brick wall falling… the whole house caves in and you''re in a full blown disaster. So I try to do is get it in the whisper. Get it in the whisper. Your life is whispering to you right now. What is it saying?

We all need to slow down and listen to the whisper in our heads. Don’t listen to the critical whispers, listen to the new “clean ideas” that you come across during the day.

Take action on the whispers that you hear for 2-3 days. Those are the true whispers in your heart that you need to take action on.

The sooner you take action, the sooner you will create positive results in your life and your job search.

If you wait, you could “miss the boat”. “Those that hesitate are lost”.

You are not lost, everyday part of the path is being shown to you. Slow down and learn to know it when you see it.

Believe it, embrace it and take action. The only way to improved results is by taking action. The risk of taking action certainly out ways not taking action.

Remember that I am a firm believe that you cannot win the lottery unless you buy a ticket.

The same is true of your job search.

An example is refreshing all you postings of your resume on the various web sites, and see the activity increase.

I wish the best for all of you in your lives and in your job search this week.

Blessings,

Eleanor

Secrets to Keeping A Positive Headset
Bonus Material
“The Power of Optimism”
I want to share with you an excerpt from the book. The Power of Optimism, written by
the well known author and therapist Alan Loy McGinnis.
The following are his 12 characteristics of optimists:
1. Optimists are seldom surprised by trouble.
2. Optimists do not look for partial solutions.
3. Optimists believe they have control over their futures and are not just
victims of circumstances.
4. Optimists interrupt their negative trains of thought.
5. Optimists heighten their powers of appreciation.
6. Optimists use their imaginations to rehearse success.
7. Optimists are cheerful even when they cannot be happy.
8. Optimists believe they have an almost unlimited capacity for stretching.
9. Optimists build lots of love into their lives.
10. Optimists like to swap good news.
11. Optimists accept what cannot be changed.
12. And optimists usually allow for regular physical and mental renewal.

All of us can become more positive an optimistic learning to develop these traits.
McGinnis says:
“These tough-minded optimists may be of average intelligence and looks, but
they know how to keep themselves motivated, and they approach their
problems with a can-do philosophy. They are experts at building a strong,
positive esprit de corps in their family or on their team, and they emerge from
tragedies somehow stronger and more attractive.
“There is no doubt that this mind-set enables people to rise to the top of their
fields. Recent studies show that optimists excel in school, have better health,
make more money, establish long and happy marriages, stay connected to their
children, and perhaps even live longer” (The Power of Optimism, P. 1)
President Lincoln once said. “The pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity and
the optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”

Work every day to push back the pessimistic, self defeating talk. Work to maintain a
positive headset. The trick is to see the positive in as many situations as possible.
Remember to remind yourself every morning about what you are grateful.
Review at night what you are grateful for at the end of the day.
80% of life is a headset and between the ears. (90% if a job search is between the ears)

Stay positive and optimistic!
Warmly,

Eleanor Anne

Sweet Job Tips: Job Search 101 - Part 1of 4 - New Job Search Approach and Results in 2012

I thought it would help to start the year with job tips that take us all back to basics. There is a lot to be said for revaluate what has been working and more importantly.

Now is a natural time to look at the past year's efforts and result in your job search and decided how to change your job search strategy and get more traction and results in your job search!

Job Search Tips 101

1)   Get focused on what type of job you are looking for.

2)   Create a new resume or update /edit a pre-existing resume for your current job search campaign.

I am firm believer in multiple versions to serve various job opportunities that you are considering.

Create customized resume to focus on the skill set that are listed on the job listings that you are applying for.

Also less is better on the length of your resume for your initial submissions. You can take the longer version to the actual interview.

I will be getting into more details on this in my blog and future Tele Seminars.

3)   Create a list of target companies/industries that you would like to work for. I am suggesting you start with 100-200 companies and all their contact information.

Gather all the appropriate contact information you will need to follow up on during your job search campaign.

I am advising creating this information in Microsoft Excel if you are familiar with that software.

Create different spreads sheets for different industries.

I will be getting into more detail on this in my blog, Tele conferences and the suggested reading job search products listed on www.TheJobSearchExperts.com

Next week I will cover "Job Search 101- Part 2.
