Sweet Job Tips: Powerful Resume Words You Need to Know About...

This week's Job Search Tips:

Job Search Success Strategies

Secrets to a Homerun with Your Resume

One of the most important areas of your resume is how you effectively and clearly communicate your accomplishments

Below are some words that will strengthen your accomplishments for your reader that are not "over used" as most of the words used on the majority of job seekers resumes.

Suggested alternatives:

Captivated                           Maximized

Championed                        Mentored

Directed                               Optimized

Exceeded                             Orchestrated

Pioneered                             Re-engineered

Formulized                            Spearheaded

Formulated                            Structured

Generated                            Proliferated

Intensified                           Recaptured

Leveraged                            Regained

Masterminded                     Rejuvenated

Go back and look at your resume and see where you can substitute some of these words to help strengthen your message.

This is an excerpt from my recently released book, The NEW Rules of Job Search - How to Land an Executive Job in the New Economy, page 47.

I look forward to helping our land that next great job you are looking for in 2013!

Have a great week and week-end.

Take care,

Eleanor

Sweet Job Tips: Executive Job Search Success Relies on Your Mindset

This week's Job Search Tips:

Job Search Success Strategies

Mindset is the Answer

90% of success in your executive job search success relies on a positive mindset. If your head is not clear, solid and positive about your goals, then your success will be far away.

When in doubt start with an idea, and goal that can be changed and modified depending on changes in the executive job market.

CLICK HERE FOR POSITIVE MINDSET INFO

If you find yourself feeling negative about your executive job search results today, step away form your job search and take a couple of hours off to clear your head.

Work on thinking of some time in your life where you felt happy, positive and confident. Take that same feeling with you when you go back to your job search and start with a fresh perspective, mindset.

When in doubt, remind yourself of the simple things in your life that you are grateful. Now again go back to your job search and start with a more positive headset.

I look forward to helping our land that next great job you are looking for in 2018!

Have a great week and week-end.

Take care,

Eleanor

Sweet Job Tips: Job Search Phone Interview Tips

This week's Job Search Tips:

Job Search Success Strategies

Chapter 12

Interview Questions That Change the Game

12 Professional Secrets to a Successful Phone Interview

1. Remember that the purpose of a phone interview is to get the face-to-face interview.

2. Make sure you have a professional, outgoing greeting on your phone for the times you are unavailable to answer.

3. Use a land line for the phone interview as opposed to a cell phone.

4. Make sure you are in a quiet location, far from distractions.

5. If possible, be the one who places the call so you can have control over exactly when the interview takes place.

6. Make sure the time that is set up is specific rather than a large time span.

7. Make sure you allow enough time away from other commitments for the call. A rule of thumb is to allow an hour. Most phone interviews take less time than that.

8. Dress for the session. Studies have shown that you will project yourself in a more confident and professional manner if you are dressed in business attire.

9. Standing up during the phone interview will help improve the strength of your voice and your answers. That is because you will be speaking from your diaphragm. As a result, your voice will be energized.

10. Speak clearly and enunciate.

11. Let the interviewer hang up the phone and end the conversation first. Following this simple yet gracious social gesture leaves the other party with a subtly biased good feeling toward you.

12. Don't forget to follow up with a thank-you note within 24 hours.
