I ran across something that Eleanor Roosevelt in one of her newspaper columns wrote that I want to share with you for this new year...

"I wish for those I love this New Year an opportunity to earn sufficient; to have that which they need for their own and to give that which they desire to others; to bring into the lives of those about them some measure of joy; to know the satisfaction of work well done, of recreation earned and therefore savored; to end the year a little wiser, a little kinder and therefore a little happier."

She really sums up my wishes for all of your in this up coming year!

May each of us use this start of a fresh new year, a fresh new start and beginning, to be determined to try each day to seek and strive for our own true welfare and the welfare others.

Sweet job Tips: The Impact of Friends on Your Job Search

You will want to visit our section with audio tapes to be able to download today's topic.

A job search can be a challenging time without the holidays thrown in. This weeks topic is regarding friends and the impact of friendship on your job search.

A friend can really give you added strength we you find yourself in challenging times. Don't forget to reach out to your friends, even ones that you have lost touch with.

They will give you added strength and support. Reach out to them and think of ways you can enrich their lives. Even ask them, where they themselves can use some help.

As I have mentioned, December can be one of the most productive months for a job search. Most executives are not traveling as much and have the time to interview. They are also in the mode of looking forward to next years goals and thinking about finishing a search from this year or getting ready to start one now for next year.

2012 WILL be a better labor market. It is moving slowly. You see a particular change late summer early fall as the country settles in for the results from the upcoming election.

Focus this week on reaching out to your friends. Enjoy their friendship and support. You will find yourself feeling better and energize in general and for your job search.

As we come into this month’s holiday season I wanted to touch on some foundation values that enrich all of our lives on an ongoing basis, and can be a particular asset to those while they are looking for a job.

Today’s job search topic is understanding the importance of friendship and the role it plays in not only your daily success  and lives but also the impact in your job search and whether you succeed or not.

Friendship and family are two incredible gifts to everyone’s life. If we allow both true friendship and the love of our families in, we are bringing in one of the greatest assets of strength and joy to our lives.

Both of these gifts with enrich fuel and help keep you energized and strong during your job search.

Slow down this holiday season and appreciate all those wonderful friends and family members that are present in your life.

It’s only natural

The foundation for quality friendships lies in the belief, “When I meet the needs of other people, m y needs will be met.” Friendship, therefore, is an extension of the natural laws of life.

What you give – you get.

What you send out – comes back.

What you sow – you reap.

Simply put, when you make a commitment to do everything in your power to help others fulfill the desires of their hearts, your desires will also be met. It’s a natural law.

How to Make Friends

Dale Carnegie said, “You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you. “To drive home his point, Carnegie tells how dogs have learned the fine art of making friends. When you get within ten fee of a so friendly dog, he will begin to wag his tail, a visible sign he enjoys your presence. If you take time to pet him, he will become excited and lick and jump all over you to show how much he appreciates you. The dog became man’s best friend by being genuinely interested in people.

Friendship is the result of our efforts to be interested in what’s going on in people’s lives.

What is a Friend?

A friend is someone who is concerned with everything you do.

A friend is someone to call upon during good and bad times.

A friend is someone who understands whatever you do.

A friend is someone who tells you the truth about yourself.

A friend is someone who knows what you are going through at all times.

A friend is someone who does not compete with you.

A friend is someone who is genuinely happy for you when things go well.

A friend is someone who tries to cheer you up when things don’t go well.

A friend is an extension of yourself without which you are not complete.

Thank you for being my friend.

Susan Polis Schultz

Sweet Job Tips: In Your Job Search Are You Feeling like and Orphan in the Streets?

I wanted to share with you an expert from a book that I read daily and enjoy. The following is from The Book of Awakening , By Mark Nepo. The book consists of daily readings focusing on "Having teh Life You want by Being Present to the Life You Have", This philosophy would serve us all, whether we are in crisis or not.

I purchased this book in June and have really enjoyed it. The book is written by a author/poet that has survived cancer. I suspect his life crisis with cancer  As given him a unique experience on how he knows views life, the world, his life and his mortality.

I have shared with some of you, that fortunately or unfortunately for me. I have found my biggest growth periods to be when I am dealing with a crisis.

Today's expert:

The Puppy in the Pound

Everybody can love in the place where they are. We can all add

our share of love without leaving the room.

- Helen Nearing

At dinner, a friend who was interviewing for a job shared how she sometimes felt too eager for their acceptance. She said she found herself inwardly yelping, like a puppy in the pound, "Pick me! Pick me!"

We all laughed, because we all do this. At some point of inner confusion, we assume that we are orphaned of all gifts and possibilities. During these painful times, were imagine that we are so small in what we have to offer that we become desperate to belong anywhere at any cost.

To make matters worse, we then hide parts of who we are, certain that if the potential boss or partner or new friend were to knmow all about us, they couldn't possibly accept us.

Once inside this thinking, it is hard to repair, and the challenge, repeatedly, is to stop giving ourselves away. For what goods is it if only a sliver of you remains? What good if only out of view? What good if only your obedience and good manners are accepted and the rest of your passion and personality must be kept in hiding?

In truth, no one can live with a sliver; for slivers, even of gold, are near-impossible to hold.

My thoughts today is for all of you to have a great day and week-end as you getting ready for next week's holiday with your loved ones.

Warmly,

Eleanor Anne Sweet
