A job search consists of a lot of ups and downs, small triumphs and disappointments working toward the final goal, of landing that next great job.
I discovered some simple tips by the author Cheryl Richardson on the subject that I wanted to share with you today.
Richardson suggests that in times of disappointments that you ask yourself the following four questions:
- Which part of me is this loss supposed to strengthen?
Job Search question: How is this job search making me a better and stronger person in terms of my motivation, ambition and resolve to find that next great job?
2.What can I learn from this?
Job Search question: What am I learning about myself and professionally while I am doing my job search that is leading me toward a better job search final decision?
3.Who can help me transform this loss into gain?
Job Search question: Who can I be helping and networking with to help me become a better person and grow through this transition?
4.How can what I’ve learned help me help others?
Job Search question: How can I share what I have learned and am learning in my job search with others, so they can benefit from what I have learned and save them time, and improve their job search?
In her book Body + Soul, she writes, “When we get to the other side of a letdown, there awaits a great opportunity to use what we’ve learned in service to ourselves and others.”
Bear fruit with patient endurance. (Luke 8:15)
Have a great week!
Remember to find the positive side of what you are coping and going through.
I always say to myself, “There has to be a reason, I am supposed to being going through this. There must be something that a Higher Power wants me to learn and become a better person helping others and making a difference in this world.”
Blessings,
