Sweet Success Tips: Ronald Reagan on Freedom and Patriotism

After hearing about all the fighting over the health care web site, I wanted to remember what a more positive country and outlook was like, I turned to Ronald Reagan, this month's Sweet Success Leader.

Here is a short video with Ronald Reagan speaking on the subject of Freedom and Patriotism.

This is something that seems to be a little "old fashion" right now with Washington DC and the country for some reason...

Ronald Regan was know for leading this country to look forward to "great things". He felt his job was to convince American's "to believe in themselves again".

Who will be our leader to help American believe in themselves?

Ronald Reagan's Leadership Blueprint:

1. Start with a good moral foundation.

2. Focus on your vision.

3. Take the heat.

4. Be totally comfortable with yourself and what you stand for.

5. Maintain a sense of humor.

6. Make sure you are truly a great communicator.

7. Learn to delegate and empower those around you.

I wish everyone great leadership and success with your year end sales, and business planning for 2014!

Sweet job Tips: The Power of Optimism with your Executive Job Search

Executive Job Search Tip: Optimism

Alan Loy McGinnis, author and therapist, shares the following twelve characteristics of an optimist in his book The Power of Optimism:

1. Optimists are seldom surprised by trouble.

2. Optimists do not look for partial solutions.

3. Optimists believe they have control over their futures and are not just victims of circumstances.

4. Optimists interrupt their negative trains of thought.

5. Optimists heighten their powers of appreciation.

6. Optimists use their imaginations to rehearse success.

7. Optimists are cheerful even when they cannot be happy.

8. Optimists believe they have an almost unlimited capacity for stretching.

9. Optimists build lots of love into their lives.

10. Optimists like to swap good news.

11. Optimists accept what cannot be changed.

12. Optimists usually allow for regular physical and mental renewal.

McGinnis tells us that studies show optimists excel in school, have better health, make more money, establish long and happy marriages, stay connected to their children, and perhaps even live longer.

I look forward to helping you land that next

great job you are looking for in 2014!

Dear Eleanor,

 This week's Job Search Tips:

9 Professional Secrets You Need to Know...

In This Current Job Market

 You will be lucky if its recipient spends more than 15 seconds reading your paperwork.

 It takes 100 to 200 resumes to land a job.

 It will take 15 to 20 phone calls to get one interview.  1 out of 12 informational interviews will land a job.

 It takes approximately 30 interviews to land a job (3-5 months).

 80% of jobs are found in the "Hidden Job Market." That means they will never be posted.

 85% of job seekers are landing their jobs through networking.

 The first four to five minute of the interview is the most critical timeframe. It's very hard to reverse a bad first impression. An unfavorable initial impression is seldom changed later on.

 Some say that the first minute of the interview is actually the most critical of all.

This is an excerpt from my book, The NEW Rules of Job Search  - How to Land an Executive Job in the New Economy, Chapter 14, Page 222.

I look forward to helping you land that next great job you are looking for in 2013!

Take care,
Eleanor

Sweet Job Tips: Job Search Leads and Job Search Success in 2013

This week I wanted to share with you a home made video that drives home how important it is to keep filling your job search and business pipe line with leads and networking.

I know that at times, particularly in the SLOWLY turning around economy that it can be SO frustrating when you keep reaching out, calling, mailing emails, sending letters and resumes in the old fashion mail, and following up via phone and emails, and not making the connections, or getting the interviews, and more importantly what appears, NO RESULTS for all the effort you have been continually doing.

This video visually shows the essence of this journey that you are on and the end. For most of you the beginning part of the video may represent where you are now in your job search  and have been for awhile.

I am here to tell you to HANG IN THERE, DO NOT GIVE UP!  The results are just around the corner. Most people give up JUST BEFORE, the results start to change.

Please be patience and keep working everyday on your job search and your businesses.

Life and the job search is a long term race, it is not a short sprint. It is all about pacing.

My daughter Meredith is the "famous actress" in the video. We were hiking in White Pines State Park in Illinois this past Sunday, July 14 2013.

It was a great day together as a mother daughter day, and it helped me to get away and try and rest my head. I have been feeling like I have been getting burned out.

When you feel like you are getting burned out or hitting a wall, set away and take some time off.

Enjoy this short video. - about one minute.

As always I wish you a great productive week.

Feel free to reach out to me if you want professional job search coaching.

I enjoy being part of helping you with your job search in 2013!

I believe in you and know you will find that next great job this year.

Take care,

Eleanor Anne Sweet
