It pays for job hunters to be aware of possible pitfalls so they don't inadvertently trip up their own job search.
A Wall Street Journal story mentions some areas of concern. Recruiters mainly want to weed out "liars, losers, and misfits." But an applicant might also be blacklisted for exaggerating qualifications or making silly jokes not seen as funny in an interview.
Even if they don't admit it, hiring managers often keep unofficial tallies of undesirable applicants. There are also career dangers in posting inappropriate or inaccurate information on social media sites such as Facebook. One recruiter herself in a way that would not align with the company's philosophy and ethics."
